Though the summer transfer window is already gone, Barcelona are planning a major midfield spending spree in the coming months.
In fact, manager Ronald Koeman has been looking for a new midfielder since he arrived at the club in 2020.
It has not been fruitful so far because his 12-month pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum ended in the summer. Instead of coming to Barcelona, the Dutchman signed with Paris Saint-Germain recently (summer football transfers).
The Barcelona manager has since also missed out on Saul Niguez and lost young starlet Ilaix Moriba to RB Leipzig.
So now, more than ever, Koeman is desperate to sign a new midfielder to bring to Camp Nou for the 2021-22 season.
Football News – Barcelona Have an Eye on Leicester City Midfielder
Amidst Barcelona’s frantic search for a midfielder, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano was the first to report links to Youri Tielemans.
And now, Mundo Deportivo has confirmed that scouts are keeping an eye on the Belgian’s situation at Leicester City. They are closely monitoring Tielemans to see if he might be available.
The 24-year-old has been outstanding on Brendan Rodgers’ side but he has entered the final two years of his contract.
And according to this Mundo Deportivo report, he is unwilling to sign an extension with the Premier League side. This is allegedly because he wants to play for a team that can consistently compete for silverware.
