The player has signed a contract until summer 2023 with an option to extend, as the club’s press office reported.
Bundesliga have also confirmed the news of Jovetic’s transfer from French club AS Monaco to German club Hertha Berlin today.
With Jovetic’s move, sporting director Fredi Bobic is happy about having filled the gap that the Krasnodar-bound Jhon Cordoba left.
“With Stevan we’re getting a classic centre-forward who brings a lot of experience from the top leagues in Europe,” Bobic said about the new, successful transfer.
“Whether in the Premier League, Serie A, Ligue 1 or La Liga, Stevan has scored goals everywhere he’s been,” the sporting director said in further praise of the former Monaco striker.
“With his footballing qualities, and also his human ones, he’ll help us immediately. We’re really looking forward to it,” Bobic finished.
Jovetic will likely first play for Hertha on Thursday, when they take on Liverpool in Austria in a pre-season friendly.
And the 31-year-old cannot wait to start playing for his new club in their new 2021-22 season.
“I’m really looking forward to the club, the city, my new teammates and the Bundesliga itself,” Jovetic said.
“I had very good conversations with those in charge at Hertha, especially Fredi Bobic, and was eager to get involved in Berlin from the very first minute,” he said before that, though.
