Euro 2020 Group E Team Preview – Spain

Euro 2020 Group E team preview – Spain

After Football Chase covered all football teams in Group D, Livematchupdate brings you every Euro 2020 Group E team preview, Spain being the first.

Six months ago, Spain defeated Germany 6-0, so ruling them out of contention this summer would be absurd.

Nonetheless, the current Spaniard squad does not appear to be a vintage Spain team.

Much will depend on how well Spain’s backline synchronizes. Much also depends on Torres, Moreno, Olmo, Alvaro Morata, and Mikel Oyarzabal. More specifically, whether these goal-scorers fire in attack if they reach the last eight.

Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, and David Villa were part of the golden generation.

Besides them, Sergio Ramos will not be playing this summer. The Real Madrid defender was a surprise absence from the tournament’s 26-man team.

Coach Luis Enrique for Spain’s Euro 2020 campaign said that due to injuries, he was unable to be called up.

Despite the generational shift, however, Spain still has enough skill to compete at the highest level. Indeed, there are no duds in the squad, despite their lacking the great names of countries like France and England.

They will even have the home advantage when they play their three group games in Seville.

So, Spain’s players appear to be a decent bet to advance far in the campaign.

Spain will have no trouble qualifying out of their group, as 16 teams out of 24 progress.

That isn’t to suggest that Group E rivals Sweden, a Poland led by Robert Lewandowski, or Slovakia won’t pose challenges.

Still, with a modest home audience in Sevilla, La Roja are the favorites to win all three group stage games.

By winning their group, they ensure themselves a spot in the last 16 as the third-best team.

From there on, they have a chance to advance to the quarter-finals and further.
