Among other news in football live today, we saw Champions League list the nominees for 2020-21 player positions.
UEFA have just set the nominees for the 2020-21 Champions League positional awards. That is, they have released the short list of nominees to determine who was the best football player in each position last season.
The winners and the runners-up of the last UCL campaign, Chelsea and Manchester City respectively, are clearly dominating this shortlist.
Five Chelsea players made it to the shortlist while three Manchester City men, as the losing finalists, are also nominees.
This takes the total Premier League shortlist delegation to 8 nominees, because no other English club players feature on it.
Besides England, clubs from Spain, Germany, and France have enjoyed visibility on the 2020-21 Champions League season’s shortlists for positions.
For instance, Real Madrid, Dortmund, Bayern and PSG players are also among those representatives that UEFA have nominated.
However, that is it for diversity in the lists of nominees- no other clubs or countries have made it.
This year’s winners will be named during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League group stage draw on the 26th of August.
