Breaking Football News – Rafa Benitez Is the New Everton Manager

In English Premier League’s breaking football news, Rafa Benitez is the new Everton manager, replacing Carlo Ancelotti.

Everton have appointed Benitez, a former Liverpool boss, as their new permanent manager on a three-year contract.

Everton unveiled the Spaniard at Goodison Park ahead of the Toffees’ latest campaign. So, Benitez will be replacing Carlo Ancelotti (transfer news) in the hot seat.

Goal reported earlier this month that Benitez had held positive talks with the Toffees.

Indeed, Everton identified the Spaniard as their top target after their interest in former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo waned.

And now, the Toffees have officially hired Benitez to come to Goodison Park ahead of their latest pre-season campaign.

So, the 61-year-old is returning to the Premier League for the first time since leaving Newcastle in 2019.

On the new Toffees job, Benitez said, speaking to the Everton’s official website: “I am delighted to be joining Everton.”

“Throughout this process I have been greatly impressed by the ambition shown by the senior representatives at the Club and their desire to bring success to this historic Club,” he continued.

“I believe this is a Club that is going places. I’m determined to play a big part in helping this great Club achieve its ambitions.”

However, in other, disturbing breaking football news, a select group of Everton fans attempted to dissuade Benitez from the job.

They hung a threatening banner near his Wirral home earlier this week, reading ‘We Know Where You Live. Don’t Sign’.

The Everton club stadium also saw banners hung outside with messages including ‘Benitez not welcome’.

These warnings have emerged because Benitez made his name in English football by serving as Liverpool’s head coach between 2004 and 2010.

However, Toffees supporters online widely condemned these uncouth threats, once they surfaced on social media.
