Borussia Mönchengladbach captain Lars Stindl has commented after the Champions League 1/8 final return leg against Manchester City (0-2, first game 0-2).
“We played against one of the best teams in the world. We had very little possession and very few chances because City showed incredible football again,” the player told UEFA’s official website.
“We expected a lot from ourselves, we created some half chances and we should have scored at least one goal,” he continued.
“We tried to play our own football but it’s very difficult against a team like that who are playing their own game. They were better than us for 180 minutes. They did not leave us any time or space and were constantly squeezing us out of their zone.
“We couldn’t get into the key areas. A goal would have helped us a lot, of course, because we worked hard. They were so good that I think we just have to admit: we can’t do that.”
