Bayern Munich’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has reported that Robert Lewandowski will be unable to join the Poland squad.
Salihamidzic has stated that the 32-year-old would be unable to fly to the UK for Poland’s match against England on March 31 due to quarantine restrictions.
Speaking to German outlet Sport-Informations-Dienst, Salihamidzic said: “If it remains the case that the returnees from England have to go into quarantine, we will not be able to put Lewandowski down.”
Lewandowski was expected to play and captain Poland in a World Cup qualifier against England at the end of this month.
But, Bundesliga players returning from a “mutation zone” country will be forced to self-isolate for 14 days, what with the coronavirus pandemic still raging across Europe and infection rates increasing in many countries.
