Though Alexandre Lacazette’s contract is going to expire at the end of the current season, he doesn’t have a new deal because Arsenal still haven’t presented him with one. So, among other football news today, Arsenal haven’t yet offered Lacazette a contract extension beyond the one expiring June 2022.
Since arriving in North London in the summer of 2017, the former Lyon man has frequently divided opinion.
As a results, he saw very prominent links to football transfers away during, and even before, the summer transfer window.
Lacazette eventually stayed at Arsenal despite interest from Atletico Madrid and Roma.
But he has yet to play a game in the 2021-22 Premier League season due to coronavirus. And now, rumours link him to a move to Italy with Juventus.
Arsenal Haven’t Yet Offered Lacazette a Contract Extension
So, the Gunners are currently at risk of losing Lacazette, who recently contracted coronavirus, on a free transfer in 2022.
According to ESPN, the striker has no new Arsenal contract offer on the table and no discussions about his future.
The report says that Arsenal are instead focusing their ‘financial resources on other areas of the team.
And yet, despite Arsenal’s inaction, head coach Mikel Arteta believes Lacazette will be “instrumental” for Arsenal this season.
Although, the 30-year-old’s only goal for Arsenal this season came against West Bromwich Albion in the EFL Cup.
However, we must remember that he has 66 goals in 172 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions.
