Rajasthan Royals had revealed a few days prior that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube had been dismissed from their camp. The pair were expected to join Mumbai’s state team on their upcoming tour of Oman. The franchise saw this as an ideal opportunity for two of their players to gain valuable match practise in those conditions ahead of the IPL 2021 UAE.
However, it has now been revealed that things for RR haven’t really gone as planned. Shivam Dube’s trip to Oman with Mumbai has been cancelled due to a back spasm suffered by the all-rounder. For the tour, Mumbai has opted to replace him with Akash Parkar, who will take on Oman in three one-dayers and three T20 matches each.
Mumbai’s 14-man team for the Oman visit has been changed
With the Oman tour being Amol Muzumdar’s first significant assignment, the Mumbai veteran is making sure that all of his players are fit and ready for the six matches. This is why, due to his injury concerns, Shivam Dube has been left out. The following is the amended 14-member Mumbai squad:
Aakarshit Gomel, Hardik Tamore, Arman Jaffer, Chinmay Sutar, Akash Parkar, Aman Khan, Sujit Naik, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shashank Attarde, Mohit Awasthi, Sairaj Patil, Deepak Shetty, and Dhurmil Matkar (captain).
There is currently no official word on Dube’s injury status
The medical team of the Rajasthan Royals has yet to provide any formal information on Shivam Dube’s injury status. Despite missing out on the Oman trip, the all-rounder is set to join the franchise and travel to the UAE with the team on September 2, according to reports. Dube will continue to work on his fitness with the IPL franchise in the hopes of a quick comeback.
