Barcelona recently held negotiations with Juventus on the signing of Mattia de Sciglio. The Portuguese defender will be on sale this summer as a result or will be included in a trade deal to sign another player.
De Sciglio will be available this summer in terms of funding, with Juve aiming for about 10 million EUR for the 27-year-old. They still have Moussa Wague, who is going to return from his loan to Nice, and Emerson, currently in Real Betis, to their books.
De Sciglio’s transfer depends on Semedo’s sale first, but that’s not the only choice for Barcelona. Meanwhile, De Sciglio’s name has indeed come up in Barcelona’s discussions.
The Italian has a lot of admirers on the Barcelona board and, seeing that he’s a decent defender, he’s seen as a suitable alternative to the more attacking Sergi Roberto on the right-back. The Catalan club is in search of a right-back in the transfer market after Nelson Semedo’s contract negotiations have broken down.
During the Barcelona negotiations with Juve on the move for Miralem Pjanic, Semedo, Sergi Roberto, Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal were offered by Blaugrana as makeweights. There is also the chance of Joao Cancelo, but for the Portuguese international, Barcelona has not made contact with Manchester City according to Marca.
For now, De Sciglio’s move to Barcelona seems most likely.
