Gerwyn Price has been replaced by James Wade for the UNIBET Premier League after he tested positive for the coronavirus. Price tested positive during routine testing for all involved in the spectacle at the Milton Keynes’ Marshall Arena. The PDC announced that he will now return to his home in Markham entering a period of self-isolation with government guidelines.
Wade was on standby and now will come in for the Iceman. There were no other positive tests returned by players and officials. Wade, a previous champion in 2009 will now face Gary Anderson on Easter Monday before taking on Rob Cross.
“I know what I’m capable of. I haven’t touched a dart since the last time I played. But I’m not a prolific practice person. So hopefully that won’t make much of a difference. And after a game or two, I should be back into the swing of things,” Wade said. “But I know I’m good enough to win it. So do the other nine people, unfortunately. I’ll have a good go, I’m pretty sure.”
