Cristiano Ronaldo praises Lionel Messi and terms him as the finest player he has competed with. In the much-discussed conversation, Piers Morgan described the 35-year-old Argentine as a “wonderful” player and person.
“He is a phenomenal player, a top player. I’ve known him for sixteen years and have a terrific relationship with him. He’s not a buddy of mine; he never comes to my place, and we never talk on the phone. But he’s almost like a teammate. I have a lot of respect for him, and our spouses do as well. They both come from Argentina. Messi is a nice person who gives it all for football,” Ronaldo said this about his rival.
Cristiano Ronaldo praises Lionel Messi and Zidane
Ronaldo was unequivocal when questioned if La Pulga is the finest player after himself. “Probably. Zinedine Zidane is most likely one of them. But, looking at those I’ve competed with, Messi is clearly the best.” When questioned, Ronaldo does not exclude playing for Messi’s current club, Paris Saint-Germain, in the future. “In football, anything is possible, so why not?” I’m not sure. At the very least, they’d sell a lot of shirts.” Ronaldo stated in the interview that if Portugal wins the World Cup next month, he will retire from football.
Ronaldo admits that he would like having dinner with Messi, which he’s never done before.
“What’s the harm? I’d like to do so in a few years, as Diego Maradona and Pelé did. That’s not a problem; I’m a nice individual with a kind heart. I don’t like criticising others; it’s not how I conduct my life. I like to be optimistic,” said Ronaldo, who was harshly critical of both Man United and Erik ten Hag.
Portugal will kick off the World Cup against Ghana on Thursday. Uruguay and South Korea are also members of Ronaldo’s squad. Messi’s team will kick off the competition against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Mexico and Poland are the other adversaries.
