Due to a shoulder injury, England pacer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the third Test against India. On the fourth day of the second Test at Lord’s, Wood was injured. England lost by 151 runs in the second Test after drawing the first match in the five-match series. On Wednesday, the third Test will begin at Headingley in Leeds.
Mark Wood, on the other hand, will remain with the team in Leeds and undergo rehabilitation. On the fourth day of the second Test, Wood hurt his shoulder diving to prevent Rishabh Pant from collecting a boundary. He did, however, bowl four overs against India’s lower order on the last day.
Saqib Mahmood may now be included in England’s lineup for the third Test, which begins on August 25.
England’s injury difficulties persist
Notably, England is already missing key players including Ben Stokes, Stuart Broad, and Jofra Archer, and Mark Wood’s absence appears to be a major setback for the hosts. So far in the series, England has struggled with the bat. Aside from skipper Joe Root, none of the top-order batsmen has been able to make a significant contribution to the squad. Notably, starter Dom Sibley, along with Zak Crawley, has been dropped for the remaining matches following a dismal showing in both Tests.
