Shimron Hetmyer of the Delhi Capitals opened up about his responsibilities at the Indian Premier League team after beating Chennai Super Kings on Monday at the Dubai International Stadium (IPL). Chasing a goal of 137 on a tough surface, Delhi were in trouble when CSK scalped DC’s six wickets at 99. Hetmyer, on the other hand, came to their aid with a mature knock.

Shimron Hetmyer was demoted down the order and faced the important death-overs overs, but he got the better of the CSK bowlers, scoring 28* from 18 and helping DC upset CSK by three wickets. With this victory, DC reclaimed first place in the points rankings. After the game, Hetmyer stated that it is critical to finish the games because that is what he is paid for.

I attempt to complete as many games as I can: Hetmyer

Hetmyer, 24, emphasised that it was critical to finishing the games, and he was delighted to achieve it against CSK. “It’s critical for me to finish games. “I tell the boys that is what I am paid for, and I strive to finish as many games as possible,” Hetmyer said in the post-match presentation to host Broadcaster Star Sports.

He also expressed gratitude for being saved by the dropped catch in the 18th over. “I believed I was out (on the dropped catch), but the man missed it, which made me happy. It was simply a matter of getting the bat on the ball. “I thought I’d attempt to score a six and pull it down as much as possible in the 19th over,” he added.

Hetmyer, who played for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL 2021, had rehearsed against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots all-rounder Dwayne Bravo in the CPL and knew how Bravo would bowl in the final stages of the match to try to restrict the flow of runs. “In the CPL, I had plenty of experience against Bravo. I figured he’d go wide given the field he had, so I just focused on going straight down the field against him. Hetmyer said, “It paid off twice.”

What does the points table look like after the game?

We are in the final week of the Group stage of the IPL 2021, and the points table, particularly the middle section, is a mess. After defeating CSK, DC now leads the league with 20 points in 13 games. CSK and RCB are in second and third place, respectively, with 18 points in 13 games and 16 points in 12 games. KKR, RR, and MI are all in contention for the final playoff spot, but PBKS’ prospects of qualifying are slim. Today, RR will face MI in a game that both teams must win.
