Adam Zampa of the Royal Challengers Bangalore was one of the first players to withdraw from the IPL 2021 because of COVID-19 concerns.

With the IPL 2021 about to resume in the United Arab Emirates, all of the teams will have their work cut out for them with so many overseas stars scheduled to miss the rest of the season. Cricket Australia and the England Cricket Board, in particular, are unlikely to allow their players to compete in the competition since they want to keep them fresh for the T20 World Cup and the Ashes that follow.

With players from those two countries accounting for a large portion of the rosters of various organisations, management has been compelled to act rapidly in order to fill up the vacancies before the season begins on September 19th. Royal Challengers Bangalore appears to be the first franchise to react to the current circumstances.

Will RCB find a perfect replacement for Zampa?

Adam Zampa of the Royal Challengers Bangalore was one of the first players to withdraw from the IPL 2021 because of COVID-19 concerns. With Virat Kohli’s team in a solid position to make the playoffs this season, they can’t afford to leave any of their bases unattended in the second half.

As things stand, the Bengaluru club has found their ideal substitute player in Sri Lanka’s all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga. The 24-year-old has allegedly sought the BCCI to be considered as a substitute for Adam Zampa in the IPL 2021 second phase. According to reports on Thursday, as many as four teams are interested in acquiring Hasaranga’s services, but it appears like RCB is dominating the race.

Why is Hasaranga on the radar of various franchises?

Wanindu Hasaranga, a Sri Lankan all-rounder, has emerged as one of the most intriguing T20 performers in recent memory. Hasaranga can contribute quickly down the order, but his spin bowling makes him a lethal possibility on turning surfaces. During the T20I series against India, the leg-spinner demonstrated his brilliance with the ball, capturing 7 wickets in three matches at an economy rate of 4.32.

With AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Kyle Jamieson, and Wanindu Hasaranga as four probable foreign possibilities, RCB might be a formidable team if they can sign Hasaranga. Furthermore, he would form a lethal spin tandem with Yuzvendra Chahal, which would be a nightmare for batters on the UAE’s slow and sluggish pitches.
