Franchise in the Indian Premier League The Rajasthan Royals named their final set of replacement players today. Evin Lewis and Oshane Thomas, both from the West Indies, will join the Royals squad as replacement players for the duration of the IPL 2021, which begins on September 19th in the UAE.
Jos Buttler will be replaced by Evin Lewis, a left-handed opening batter from Trinidad and Tobago. Lewis, 29, made his debut for West Indies during their 2016 World T20 campaign in India and has 1318 runs with a strike rate of 158 in 45 T20Is. In 57 One-Day Internationals, the flashy hitter has scored 1847 runs for West Indies.
His outstanding efforts for the national team earned him a contract with the Mumbai Indians in 2018, where he scored 430 runs in 16 matches throughout the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Oshane Thomas, a Jamaican right-arm pace bowler who currently plays for the Barbados Royals in the Caribbean Premier League, will join the Royals as a substitute for Ben Stokes. Oshane Thomas, 24, made his international debut against India in a bilateral ODI and T20I series in 2018. Thomas, who was named West Indies’ Emerging Player of the Year in 2019, has taken 27 wickets in 20 ODIs and 19 wickets in 17 T20Is since then. In the IPL, the feisty bowler picked up five wickets in four matches for the Royals in 2019, and he was also with the organisation during the 2020 season in the UAE.
