T20 World Cup: The continuing Test at the Oval is currently in a precarious position, with the game wide open at stumps on Day 2 of the second day. On Friday, Ollie Pope and Chris Woakes each scored fifty-plus runs for the home side, as well as some useful runs. England was finally bowled out for 290 runs, but not before gaining a 99-run lead in the first innings.
Before the day’s play at the Oval ended, the Indian openers had done an outstanding job of not losing a wicket, with the score reading 43-0 in 16 overs. Although Virat Kohli’s team has clawed their way back into the game, it was a bittersweet outing for them, with a major injury issue looming over the team after Jasprit Bumrah appeared to sustain an injury while bowling on Friday.
On Day 2, Bumrah sustains a left calf injury
The incident occurred in England’s first innings during the 82nd over, when Jasprit Bumrah was called into the attack to take the final wicket, which would have been his 100th Test wicket. Bumrah had had a hard day, having delivered a lot of overs on a pitch that had become easier to bat on.
Bumrah began his next stint with a full throw, which was flicked to the square-leg region for a boundary by Chris Woakes, who was batting well. While four more runs would undoubtedly hurt India as the gap grew, there was something scarier that occurred between the wickets.
As India’s physio Nitin Patel ran towards the pitch, the right-arm pacer was down on the ground, gripping his left calf. The sequence of events unfolding thousands of kilometres away at the Oval scared all of the fans in the country watching in front of their TV screens.

Twitter users are worried about Bumrah’s health
Jasprit Bumrah is the only Indian pacer to have appeared in every Test match on India’s current tour of the United Kingdom, including the WTC Final. The 27-year-old has struggled with fitness in recent months, but he appears to be in terrific form in this series. He has been at the forefront of India’s bowling attack, taking several key wickets. This is why all of the fans were terrified to see Bumrah on the ground, clutching his left calf.
Fans took to social media to express their alarm, claiming that Bumrah’s injury was a bigger problem for India than England’s large first-innings advantage at the Oval. Some internet users began to speculate about the next T20 World Cup, in which Bumrah will be a key player for the Men in Blue.
Take a look at the reactions on Twitter:

More than conceding 100 run lead, India's greater concern will be the fitness of Bumrah and hopefully he has not got any injury.

A lead of 85 runs and Bumrah is down with calf injury (it seems)….India will need 500 runs to win this game now…All the best…#ENGvIND

Thankfully for everyone, Bumrah returned to bowl and finished England’s innings with a superbly executed run-out. However, there will be questions about his fitness, and fans will simply hope that it was nothing more than a little cramp.
