Live Cricket News: According to the most recent report, India’s tour of South Africa will go on, but the schedule will most likely be altered. The news that the series would be cancelled due to the new COVID-19 variation in the host country has been circulating for quite some time. The BCCI, on the other hand, has not responded to the report that the tour is likely to be postponed.

It’s worth noting that India was supposed to fly to the Rainbow Nation on December 8 or 9, but the current Omicron virus has jeopardised the series. According to India Today, the BCCI has requested a week from Cricket South Africa to reconsider the tour’s potential. However, it appears that the boards of both countries are interested in continuing the series.

India’s trip to South Africa will begin on December 17 with a Test match at Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium. The teams will play two more Test matches before facing off in as many One-Day Internationals as possible from January 11. The final game will be a four-match T20I series, which will begin on January 19.

South Africa’s three-match ODI series against the Netherlands, which was being hosted by the Rainbow Nation, was called off last week after the first match was washed out owing to the Omicron virus. The new virus has also caused the Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2021 in Harare to be cancelled, as well as the Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup, which was scheduled to take place in South Africa from December 5 to December 16, to be postponed.

There is still time to make a decision: Sourav Ganguly

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly announced the tour in a statement to the media a few days ago. However, he emphasised that the cricket regulating body of India places a high focus on player safety. Meanwhile, BCCI’s board president has stated that the organisation will do everything necessary to ensure the series’ success.
