IPL 2021’s second phase is just around the way. The teams are on their way to the United Arab Emirates to compete in the second leg of the IPL 2021. But, in a major development ahead of the cash-rich competition, Liam Livingstone sustained an injury while playing for Lancashire against Warwickshire in Division 1 of the County Championship on August 30. Livingstone, who was fielding first for Lancashire, tried to save the boundary but injured his shoulder in the process.

Three teams could be harmed by Livingstone’s injury

Liam Livingstone is in the phenomenal form right now, having been crowned the Men’s Hundred MVP for his batting prowess and skills with the ball. With an average of 58 and a strike rate of 178.46, Livingstone drove 348 runs in nine innings. He also managed to rack up 27 maximums in the process. During the T20 series against Pakistan, he broke England’s fastest ever century. However, his injury has caused concern not just for the Rajasthan Royals of the Indian Premier League, but also for England and Lancashire.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan and Australian star Shane Warne both recommended the right-handed batsman to replace Jos Buttler, who would be absent from the team for the fourth Test against India due to paternity leave. But, as England’s selection for the fourth Test has been published, it appears like Buttler will be replaced by Ollie Pope or Chris Woakes.

Rajasthan Royals are concerned

In the absence of Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone could be a good choice to play in the opening slot for Rajasthan Royals (RR). Livingstone’s ability to strike the bowlers at will can help the RR score at a much faster rate and put up big totals.

Lancashire is facing Warwickshire, who have amassed a total of 259/3. When Livingstone was hurt, he was replaced by Richard Gleeson, who would very certainly play the rest of the match. As of currently, there has been no news from Lancashire about Livingstone. In the coming days, Lancashire will face Nottinghamshire, Somerset, and Hampshire.
