Latest Cricket News: The defending champions Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma was forced to miss the first match of the UAE leg of the competition against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday due to an unfavourable start to the tournament. The Hitman was considered unfit for the match and hence did not participate in the toss. In his absence, vice-captain Kieron Pollard stated Rohit will return soon and that he was only filling in for the first game.

The news is a major loss for Mumbai, who had hoped for a huge performance from their opener and skipper against CSK. To make matters worse, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been left out of the XI, ostensibly due to fitness concerns. As a result, the Mumbai Indians have named Anmolpreet Singh to their squad. The four overseas players in this match for the most successful team in IPL history are Quinton de Kock, Kieron Pollard, Adam Milne, and Trent Boult.

Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, had to deal with the absence of Sam Curran, who is currently in quarantine. In his absence, Dwayne Bravo has filled in for the seam-bowling all-rounder. Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis has recovered from his injury and has joined the Chennai XI immediately. Moeen Ali and Josh Hazlewood round up the four international players for Chennai Super Kings, joining Du Plessis and Bravo.

The two teams have already played in the competition this season, with Pollard’s remarkable effort taking the result away from CSK. MI chased down Chennai’s 218/4, which they had made batting first thanks to Pollard’s unbeaten 87 off 34 balls, in the final ball of the match. CSK are currently in the second position in the points table with five victories from seven matches, while MI are in fourth place with four wins.

The starting lineups for both teams are as follows:

Chennai: Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazlewood

Mumbai: Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Anmolpreet Singh, Saurabh Tiwary, Kieron Pollard (c), Krunal Pandya, Adam Milne, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult
