Latest Cricket News: As part of his rehabilitation, Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has returned to club cricket. After receiving permission from the PCB, the 31-year-old made his comeback during a club cricket match in Lahore. Before getting dismissed, he only managed to score five runs. However, it was Akmal’s physical appearance that drew everyone’s attention, as he appeared to be rather out of shape.

The right-handed batter was seen stepping in to bat in his comeback game in a video that went viral on social media. Akmal appeared to have put on a large amount of weight. Internet users mocked Umar Akmal for failing to meet international fitness requirements.

A fan even said that she didn’t recognise Umar Akmal in the video since he had gained several kilogrammes and appeared to be out of shape.

Here are a few of the tweets:

The rehabilitation programme for Umar Akmal is set to end next month. After that, he’ll be eligible to play in Pakistan’s domestic cricket season in 2021-22. Umar Akmal remarked after the game that he is really focused this time around and that he is also working hard on his fitness.

He also expressed gratitude to the PCB for allowing him to play club cricket and reiterated his desire to return to domestic cricket.

“Right now, I’d like to take a step ahead. Now that I’ve been given permission to play domestic cricket again, I’ll attempt to put forth my best effort. The selectors determine whether or not you are selected on the side. “It is my responsibility to perform well,” Akmal stated.

“I am grateful to the PCB for allowing me to play cricket,” he said. My entire emphasis has shifted to cricket. I’ll make an effort to let go of the past and focus on the future. Throughout the exam process, I’ve been focusing on improving my fitness. I’m in great shape and plan to work on my match fitness as well,” he added.
