Latest Cricket News: On Tuesday, Dale Steyn, a legendary South African pacer, announced his retirement from all forms of the game. The Proteas pacer announced his decision on Twitter, bringing a magnificent 17-year career to a close. Steyn, one of South Africa’s best fast bowlers, took 699 international wickets in 265 matches at an average of 23.37. In 93 Test matches, he took 439 wickets, 196 ODI wickets in 125 games, and 64 T20I wickets in 47 games.
In his resignation letter, Steyn stated, “And, after a long December, there’s reason to expect that this year will be better than the previous one. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve told myself to cherish these moments as they pass.”
“It’s been 20 years of training, games, travel, victories, defeats, strapped feet, jetlag, joy, and fraternity.” There are far too many to recount. There are far too many people to thank. So I delegated the task of summarising my favourite band, the Counting Crows, to the professionals.
“I’m officially retiring from the game I adore today.” Sweet and bitter, but appreciative. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this great adventure, from family to teammates, media to fans.”
