Jimmy Neesham, a New Zealand all-rounder, is the social media king. He is constantly active on Twitter and never hesitates to make a comment on any topic. He’s also known for his witty troll responses. However, a Twitter user recently accused Neesham of avoiding national duty in order to play for money. Neesham was quick to respond and provided a rational explanation for his actions.

A user from Pakistan expressed his displeasure with the New Zealand board’s decision to designate a second-string group for the Pakistan visit and rest their star players in a tweet. “You should be ashamed of yourself. For the sake of money, I skipped national duties,” the user added. “I’m getting a lot of texts like this, so I want to be perfectly clear,” Jimmy Neesham answered calmly. First-choice players are not on this tour according to NZ Cricket’s player welfare policy. I applied for an exemption, but my request was turned down.”

Tom Latham has been appointed as the stand-in captain for New Zealand’s next tour to Bangladesh and Pakistan, with top players Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Kylie Jamieson, and Lockie Ferguson being rested. Jimmy Neesham’s name was also absent from the list of players. The explanation offered by David White, New Zealand’s chief executive, was to help players manage their workloads ahead of a hectic season. “The need to protect our players and support staff’s well-being is now very real, and we’ve attempted to do so by carefully regulating their workloads during this winter’s big playing schedule,” White added.

However, others are tying these players’ absence to their involvement in the IPL’s second leg, which begins on September 19, in the UAE.

Pakistan’s ODI squad has been announced

The Pakistan Cricket Board has also named their squad for the three One-Day Internationals against New Zealand. The Men in Green will be led by Babar Azam. While the majority of the names are the same as for the West Indies tour, there are a few new names as well. Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Zahid Mahmood have all been called up to the national team for the first time.
