T20 World Cup: Mohammed Siraj, an Indian pacer, has had a fantastic career in international cricket, particularly in Tests. He proceeded to excite everyone in the longest version of the game in England after helping India win the historic Test series in Australia. Siraj not only played in all four Tests against England, but he also made a significant contribution. With 14 wickets under his belt, he was India’s second-best wicket-taker.
People expected Siraj to stroll directly into the T20 World Cup squad after his Test career took off. However, things did not go as planned for Siraj, and the Hyderabad cricketer is disappointed at missing out on the 15-member group. Siraj told Sportstar that while it was his desire to play in the T20 World Cup, he couldn’t help with the selection process. “Well, we don’t have control over the selection. Playing in the T20 World Cup was a dream come true. But, once again, that isn’t the end of the storey,” Siraj explained.
He went on to say that he hopes to keep winning games for his country. “I have a lot more goals, the most important of which is to play a key part in helping the team win games,” Siraj added. “I’ll accept things as they come because I believe in destiny,” he continued, “and be pleased with any possibilities I have as long as the pursuit of excellence at the greatest level continues.”
It gives me great pleasure to be a part of the Virat Kohli-led unit: Siraj
Siraj has always given Virat Kohli credit for his international success. Siraj (Miyan) enjoys playing under Kohli, whether it’s for RCB or India. “This squad is on a high following the spectacular series triumph in Australia,” Siraj said of India’s performance in England. It’s a team that’s well-balanced across all departments. And it’s a pleasure for me to be a member of such a team led by such an inspiring leader like Virat Bhai.”
Siraj has performed admirably for India since donning the whites, and that too on away travels. In the absence of front-line seamers, he led the pace attack at Gabba and clinched a fifer. He continued his fine form with an eight-wicket haul on his Lord’s debut, and he was instrumental in India’s historic victory. He has 30 wickets at an average of 29.4 from 9 Tests, including two four-fers and one fifer.
