The Royal Challengers Bangalore are led by Virat Kohli. Bangalore has suffered a major setback ahead of the IPL 2021 second phase. Washington Sundar of the RCB has been ruled out of the rest of the IPL 2021 season. This news comes after the franchise’s departure for the United Arab Emirates on August 29.

The 21-year-old all-rounder had been chosen in India’s 20-man team for the five-match Test series against England, but he was forced to withdraw due to injury. Sundar injured his finger during a three-day warm-up game at the Chester-le-Street Stadium.

Sundar will be replaced by Akash Deep in IPL 2021 Phase 2

Washington Sundar, the in-form star all-rounder, had previously sustained a finger injury while playing for County XI in a warm-up match. As a result of this event, he, along with Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan, was forced to miss the ongoing England Test series.

“All-rounder Washington Sundar of the Royal Challengers Bangalore has been ruled out of the rest of the IPL 2021 owing to an anticipated finger injury. “Akash Deep, a Bengal state cricketer and net bowler with the franchise has been named as a replacement,” stated a part of the RCB press release.

With Adam Zampa, Daniel Sams, and Kane Richardson out for the rest of the season, Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, pacer Dushmantha Chameera, Tim David, and England all-rounder George Garton have been announced as the Phase 2 replacements. Due to national duties, New Zealand cricketers Finn Allen and Scott Kuggeleijn will also be unavailable.

The Virat Kohli-led team will play their debut match in the UAE on September 20 against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
