The Delhi Capitals announced on Thursday that Rishabh Pant will continue to manage the team for the remainder of the IPL 2021 season, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates. Following Shreyas Iyer’s shoulder injury that kept him out of the first half of the season, the wicketkeeper was named captain of the team early this year.
The Delhi Capitals performed admirably under Pant’s leadership, winning six of their first eight matches in India. This is why, despite the return of Iyer to the squad, the organisation has decided to keep him as captain.
“Today, the JSW-GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals declared that Rishabh Pant will continue as Captain for the duration of the #IPL2021 season,” the franchise stated on social media.

From the front, Rishabh Pant led the side
When Rishabh Pant was given the leadership over seasoned players like Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Steve Smith, there were a lot of questions. During the first half of the season, though, the 23-year-old silenced his detractors by displaying some incredible leadership characteristics.
He also did not let the strain of captaincy impair his natural batting approach, amassing 213 runs in eight matches on some challenging batting pitches. Pant’s confidence would be boosted if he was retained as captain as he attempts to lead his team to their first IPL win this year. With Iyer’s comeback, Delhi Capitals will have a formidable leadership group heading into the UAE leg.
The Delhi Capitals will compete in the first half of the IPL in 2021
The IPL 2020 runners-up enjoyed a fantastic first half of IPL 2021, winning six of their eight games. The Delhi Capitals are currently at the top of the table with 12 points heading into the UAE leg.
