The 32nd match of the IPL 2021 began with a bang in Dubai, with Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis setting the team off to a flying start. In powerplay, the left-handed combo, who have a very similar batting approach, went absolutely crazy against the Punjab bowlers. As the runs continued to flow, the pressure on the opposition grew, and PBKS captain KL Rahul became increasingly concerned.
Punjab breathed a sigh of relief as Arshdeep Singh sacked Evin Lewis. As the RR captain stepped out to bat, they couldn’t afford to take it easy. In the previous match between the two teams, Sanju Samson had smashed a century, and Punjab needed to dismiss him early to get back into the game. This is when PBKS captain Ishan Porel was reintroduced to the assault, and it was a brilliant decision.

The right-arm pacer began the over with a wide delivery, just outside the off-stump and short of the length. Sanju Samson sought to take advantage of the situation by reaching out to make a cut. However, he was unable to play the shot because he came into contact with a thick edge. The ball appeared to be going over KL Rahul’s head and Samson would get away with it. The PBKS skipper, on the other hand, had different ideas!
The 29-year-old leapt through the air, his right hand extended in an attempt to catch the ball. KL Rahul executed a brilliant jump and a spectacular catch to send his opponent back to the pavilion. As Punjab clawed their way back into the game, Samson was removed on four.
