Cricket News: Wasim Jaffer, a former India opener, has established himself as a social media sensation. He occasionally comes up with some humorous memes and trolls, which has made him a Twitter favourite. Now, the Indian domestic cricket legend has created another meme based on the Bollywood film No Entry, this time portraying the low bounce on the Kanpur field for ongoing India vs New Zealand test.

“Bounce to Kanpur pitch curator: #INDvNZ,” he simply titled the classic Anil Kapoor conversation “Thoda neeche thoda neeche bolke kitna neeche leke aa gaya.” On an otherwise good-looking batting surface, there has been uneven bounce on the surface at Kanpur, with the oddball sticking low. The low-lying ball, on the other hand, has provided opportunities for the bowlers and made the wicketkeeper’s task more difficult behind the stumps.

Here’s what Jaffer had to say about the Kanpur pitch:

After Shreyas Iyer scored a century on his Test debut on Friday, Jaffer uploaded a humorous meme mocking himself. “Mumbai batsman to sab debut mein century maarte hain,” Jaffer wrote in an image inspired by Shah Rukh Khan’s popular film Main Hoon Na, to which SRK’s character responds, “Sab nahi maarte Shreyas,” in reference to Jaffer losing out on a century on his Test debut.

On his Test debut, Iyer became the 16th Indian to achieve a century. Prior to Iyer, the last two batters to strike a century on debut were both from Mumbai, with Rohit Sharma and Prithvi Shaw declaring their entrance on the big stage with centuries in 2013 and 2018. Both of these tonnes came against the West Indies in a home Test match, with Shreyas achieving the feat against New Zealand.

After Iyer’s hundred, Jaffer is teasing himself:

Despite his century, Shreyas may have to make way for captain Virat Kohli in Mumbai for the second Test. Virat Kohli will return to the team for the second Test after taking a sabbatical after the T20 World Cup. For his century, Shreyas batted at Virat’s position, and it would be intriguing to observe where and how Kohli is now recruited into the Playing XI.
