Cricket News: The 44th match of the IPL 2021 between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad began quietly, with little happening in Sharjah. After losing Jason Roy early in the innings, SRH attempted to claw their way back into the game with some cautious batting. The Orange Army, on the other hand, suffered a big setback when their skipper, Kane Williamson, was removed by DJ Bravo with the score at 49/2 in 8 overs.
Citing an opportunity to attack, CSK skipper MS Dhoni reintroduced Shardul Thakur into the attack in search of a wicket. On the third delivery, Wriddhiman Saha smacked the ball straight into the hands of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was standing at a backward point, the strategy appeared to be paying off. The wicket would have radically shifted the battle in CSK’s favour, but the bottom-placed side eventually got some luck on their side.
The no-ball siren sounded as Saha was walking back to the pavilion, indicating that Thakur had crossed the bowling crease while bowling the delivery. The replays verified this, and third umpire Michael Gough acted quickly to address the matter.
Just as Abhishek Sharma, the next hitter, was about to enter, on-field umpire Yeshwant Barde affirmed the ruling and signalled for a free-hit to end a spectacular sequence of events.

The SRH wicketkeeper’s luck ran out a few overs later when he was removed by Ravindra Jadeja. However, Saha’s 46-ball 44-run knock could prove to be very significant in his side’s attempt to post a competitive total.
