Cricket News: The action relocated to Abu Dhabi on Monday after a dramatic start to the UAE leg of IPL 2021 in Dubai on Sunday, with Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore. All eyes were on RCB captain Virat Kohli, who was making his 200th appearance for the team in the Indian Premier League, as his side won the toss and chose to bat first.
The 32-year-old began cautiously against Varun Chakravarthy, but he quickly found his stride. Kohli hit a dazzling shot towards the offside as the ball soared towards the boundary as soon as Morgan introduced a pacer into the attack in the form of Prasidh Krishna. Fans began to believe that this was the start of something amazing, but everything changed suddenly in a matter of seconds.
After a weird DRS, Virat Kohli was fired
On the next ball, Prasidh Krishna bounced back by trapping Virat Kohli in front, with the RCB captain missing a straight delivery. Although it appeared that the ball would go over the stumps, umpire Chris Gaffaney raised his finger, sure that it was hitting the wickets. Kohli did not waste any time in reviewing the decision, as everyone hoped it would be overturned.
The replays revealed that it would be a very close call, and the ultimate result will only be known once the ball-tracker is flashed. The players and supporters had to wait more than a minute for the ball-tracker after it was verified that the ball did not touch the bat. Everyone was perplexed, including the TV umpire, who couldn’t figure out why the game was delayed.
The question was finally solved when the ball-tracker was revealed, confirming that the on-field umpire was correct as the ball smashed into the stumps. As a result, Virat Kohli was dismissed for just 5 runs, giving KKR their first wicket of the game.

Following the early loss of a wicket, the RCB batters steadied their batting over the following few overs before Devdutt Padikkal was also removed on the final ball of the powerplay. At the time of writing, the score was 41/2 in 6 overs.
