Cricket News: Cricket brings people together as few other sports do. And, according to form, cricket brought together two lovers who had a long-standing feud on the cricket field. Rob Hale, an England cricket enthusiast, proposed to his Australian girlfriend Natalie during the continuing first Ashes Test at the Gabba in Brisbane, and the moment was captured on camera by broadcasters.

According to reports, Rob met Natalie while playing for the Barmy Army in Australia during the 2017 Ashes series. Rob can be seen going down on one knee and proposing to his fiancée, who accepts the proposal in a video that has gone viral.

Channel 7 in Australia not only captured the instances on camera but also published a short video of them on social media. The crowd erupted in applause as soon as Natalie said yes, and even the on-air announcers couldn’t help but recount the event, diverting their attention away from the game.

Here’s the video:

In terms of on-field action, England was bowled out for 147 in the first innings and then surrendered a 278-run lead in the second. While Pat Cummins was the Australian wrecker in chief, scooping up a fifer on his Test leadership debut in the first innings, Travis Heads’ 152, together with David Warner’s 94 and Marnus Labuschagne’s 74, helped Australia to a series-opening victory.

England is doing better in the second batting innings than they were in the first, but they still have a mountain to climb following their poor showing with the bat in the first innings despite winning the toss.

Meanwhile, off the field, Pat Cummins’ post, in which he proclaimed his decision to help India combat COVID-19 while the country was suffering a severe second wave, became India’s most retweeted message in 2021. Furthermore, India Test captain Virat Kohli’s post announcing the birth of his daughter in January 2021 became the year’s most popular tweet.
