Cricket News: When India’s top bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, damaged his ankle, he was forced to quit the game. In his follow-through, Bumrah injured his ankle badly and limped off the field to seek medical attention.

During the second session of Day 3 of the ongoing Test against South Africa, the event occurred as the seamer was bowling his sixth over. Bumrah twisted his ankle after delivering the fifth ball of the over and collapsed to the ground in excruciating pain. The physio rushed to the stadium, and although Bumrah was back on his feet after a little pause, he departed the ground with the medical personnel. The final ball of the over was bowled by Mohammed Siraj.

The camera panned to Bumrah during the next over. As the 28-year-old seamer was spotted receiving treatment in the dugout, he was wearing a bandage on his ankle. Bumrah had given India their first breakthrough, catching South African captain Dean Elgar behind in the first over of the innings. He had bowled 5.5 overs for 12 runs and got one wicket. He eventually joined the action at the end of the second session.

Meanwhile, following a dominant performance on Day 1, Team India failed to repeat the feat on Day 3, losing the final seven wickets for just 49 runs. KL Rahul, the Centurion, was the first to leave, while Ajinkya Rahane failed to repeat his gutsy performance from the first day.

After their captain’s departure, South Africa’s wickets continued to fall. Keegan Peterson and Aiden Markram were both dismissed by Mohammed Shami. As the hosts fell to 4 down for 32, Rassie van der Dussen edged Siraj to slips. Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma would be looked to in South Africa to get them out of difficulty.
