Chris Silverwood has said that Jofra Archer is set to miss at least the start of the Indian Premier League campaign to resolve a persistent elbow issue. England Cricket Board announced that Archer would miss the three ODI’s as well as the start of the Rajasthan Royals campaign after being deemed unfit for selection.
“It was a joint decision to put England first. He needs to get this right, he needs time to do that, so we have made space to make sure we give him the best chance to be successful for England.” Silverwood said.
Silverwood is hoping that the change of scenery will have a positive impact on the team after most of the players were present in Ahmedabad before the start of the Third test match. He maintained that the ODI series which starts on Tuesday is not a consolation prize and hopes they could end the tour on a winning note.
“To me, it’s not a consolation prize. We want to win everything and we are defending 50-over world champions so we want to go out there and put in a good showing.” Silverwood said. “The 50-over World Cup is here in 2023 as well so it is a great opportunity for us to see conditions and for players to get experience.”
