On Friday, the second day of the fourth Test between India and England proved to be pretty thrilling. On the back of a stunning 81-run knock by Ollie Pope on his return, England is currently in command. India, on the other hand, has stayed in the game by taking wickets at regular intervals. Virat Kohli’s side has obviously missed one of its strike bowlers in the form of Mohammed Shami on a day when the wicket has been good for batting.
The right-arm pacer has been one of India’s most impressive bowlers so far in this series, and his absence was felt at The Oval, where Jonny Bairstow and Ollie Pope racked up runs at will. Mohammed Shami was forced to skip the fourth Test owing to a niggle, denying him the chance to play for India on his birthday.
Shami’s birthday is celebrated by his admirers
Shami’s birthday is September 3rd, and he will be 31 years old. Despite his desire to dismiss a few English batsmen on this momentous occasion, he had to settle for remaining in the dressing room and watching his teammates battle it out at The Oval.
Despite their regret at missing out, Indian supporters wanted to do something special for their star bowler on his birthday. In the stands, a group of fans were seen wearing ‘Happy Birthday Shami’ t-shirts and carrying a cake.

As he walked behind the boundary ropes to cut the cake, the Indian fast-bowler was eager to recognise his supporters’ affection and gesture. It was a fantastic moment for both the fans and the athlete, as everyone at The Oval was enthralled by the beauty of the situation.
Shami, as expected, did not eat the cake, with on-air pundits joking that the 31-year-old couldn’t afford to eat so many calories.
