Former youth coach Colin Omogbehin says Aaron Wan-Bissaka is “tailor-made” for Manchester United.
The player shares a lot of his most winning personality traits with the values that Manchester United themselves uphold.
Omogbehin argues that Wan-Bissaka was always a driven player, with his skill first noticed by the grassroots club Junior Elite in London and then by Palace:
“He’s very hungry, he’s worked for every possibility he’s given- it’s never been handed over to him. Even at Crystal Palace there was a time when they weren’t sure about him and he had to come through that period, around 13, 14 years old.
“He has that fighting ability whenever required. I’ve already seen this type of character and they usually have a long career in the game. Because they are focused and driven every day- not just a few days- this is why they end up playing every week because they can be trusted by the manager.”
Indeed, the full-back boasts the “never-say-die mentality” on which the Red Devils pride themselves. He talks to Manchester Evening News of the player he’s worked with in youth football and the Palace Academy: “He’s got a fantastic never give up mentality, never-say-die.”
Omogbehin is thus not amazed by Wan-Bissaka’s success.
