Billy Joe Saunders revealed that any dispute over the size of the ring has been resolved with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. He had threatened on Tuesday to fly back and call of the fight due to the ring dimensions. John Ryder was said to be readied as a last-minute replacement. Billy Joe Saunders was then a no-show in the first head-to-head meeting with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez before the world super-middleweight fight.

“I’m pleased to say the issue is sorted,” Saunders said on Tuesday. “The ring is not a problem. Thumbs up.”

“I don’t care about the size of the ring. I’m just going to going there and do my job.” Canelo said. “It’s not the only excuse he’s had. He’s had plenty of excuses. He has to fight on Saturday. The fight is going to happen. That is not a problem.”

The dispute was a flashback to when Tyson Fury had a similar objection in his fight against Wladimir Klitschko. Back then, the sponginess of the ring was brought up by the Fury camp. They also threatened to call the fight off at short notice for the comfortability of gloves as well as hand-wraps.

John Ryder who is in Texas to promote his fight in June said he would be more than willing to step in if Saunders does cancel. He admitted that the chances of this happening were very small.

“You don’t come this far in a fight to let it go at the last minute, because of a couple of feet,” Ryder said. “I think [Saunders] is going to get what he wants. I was always due to go out to Dallas. Eddie wanted me to get out there and do a bit of promotion, for my up-and-coming fight in June, so I was always heading out there. But I mean if he gives me the call, I’ll pack the gum shield and protector.”
