Dillian Whyte is expected to head to America this Summer to face two former titleholders in Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruz Jr. Franklin thought has come out and said that Whyte’s return isn’t a daunting proposition for him.
“That intimidation s**t, it doesn’t work for people like me,” Franklin said. “I’ve always experienced and always been through rough situations, so a bully is nothing to me. A bully is just a regular person. You can try to intimidate me if you want to bully me, or you can try any of that, but that s**t won’t do nothing for you, won’t get you nowhere.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that he would like to see Whyte quickly fight over the summer until the eventual winner of the two contracted fights between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua takes place. Franklin is in line to face another unbeaten heavyweight in Stephen Shaw. A win could strengthen his chances of a potential opponent to Whyte.
“Jermaine is the best upcoming American heavyweight,” Franklin’s promoter Dmitriy Salita said. “He has a stern test in front of him on April 22nd against Stephan Shaw, but I believe it will be another opportunity for him to shine and show boxing fans that he is the next American in line for the world title.”
