Harold Knight has revealed that although Dillian Whyte and his trainer have had a fiery relationship they have formulated a plan to stop Alexander Povetkin. Knight, who helped Lennox Lewis in a number of victories has had his assistant been added to Whyte’s team.
“I had to warm myself up to the established team and to Dillian. He’s a strong-minded individual so it took a while.” Knight said. “The time to reschedule [the fight] really has helped. We have a back and forth. Dillian is smart – he tells you like it is. He’s a realist.”
Knight had joined Whyte’s camp in October but both have benefitted from the delay in scheduling the Povetkin rematch. Whyte will be taking on Povetkin in Gibraltar on March 27 in a rematch to avenge his knockout loss suffered last time the pair met. Knight revealed exactly when Whyte started learning the tactics prepared for the fight.
“He was doing a lot of the things needed in this fight – the jab up and down, three or four times with the jab,” Knight said. “He didn’t think I was looking. But when he looked over I said: ‘That is exactly what I need you to do.'”
