Chris Kongo says that once he beats Michael McKinson, Conor Benn would be pressurized into fighting him in the Battle of the Brits. Kongo will take on McKinson with both contenders being unbeaten on the undercard of Povetkin vs Whyte. Benn is preparing to fight Samuel Vargas on April 10th and Kongo could issue a challenge from ringside thereafter.
“I believe I’m the no 1 fighter in the division in the world,” Kongo said. “I know I’m definitely the best in the UK. People will want to see that fight (Conor Benn). We’re on our journeys, but we have to meet somewhere down the line.”
“I would definitely love to be ringside for that fight (Benn vs Vargas). After I get my win, let’s see how it goes, and I wish him the best of luck. I hope he’s training hard.” he added.
Kongo is looking to defend his WBO Golden belt to boost his ranking and has admitted that he will be looking for a world title shot in a star-filled division with Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford.
