Boxing: According to promoter Frank Warren, Tommy Fury could postpone his fight with Jake Paul for early next year, and it will be a “new proposition” for the YouTube sensation.

Last Saturday, the unbeaten British challenger was forced to withdraw from his battle against Paul due to a severe chest illness and a broken rib.

Instead, in a rematch, Paul knocked out Tyron Woodley, but Tommy Fury’s promoter Frank Warren plans to reschedule a huge fight between the British contender and the social media star.

Warren told Sky Sports, “We will be aiming to reschedule in early 2022.”

“Jake stated Tommy Fury was ‘fortunate’ not to be in there, although Tommy was incredibly unlucky to be out due to his injuries.”

“Tommy Fury in shape is a whole different prospect than Tyron Woodley.”

For the Woodley fight, Paul wore a Union Jack-themed attire to the ring, which contained a message to Tommy Fury on his robe.

“Hey Tommy, wish you could’ve been here, but watching from a TV is fine as well,” it said.

In his post-fight interview, he also mentioned Fury, saying, “Tommy Fury is lucky he wasn’t in there tonight, because Tyron is a lot harder.” He’s had that experience before.

“Tommy would have looked a lot worse than that [Woodley knockout] – which was awful enough.”

Paul extended his spotless record to five victories by dropping Woodley face first on the ground in the sixth round with a huge right hand.

“I got the highlight reel knockout setting up that shot,” Paul explained. “I knew he was going to attempt to catch the right hand coming straight, so I had to loop it around like a hook.”

In his first fight with Paul, Woodley was defeated by a split decision, but the former UFC champion admits he made a crucial defensive blunder in the rematch.

“I had both hands up because I knew that was coming,” Woodley explained.

“I was prepared to block the overhand, and I’m not sure if he did so.

“I’m not sure why I dropped my hand, even if he didn’t delay it.

“In this sport, one error is all it takes. There was only one mistake.”
