Boxing Ring: On the undercard for Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Richard Commey in New York, Jared Anderson extends his destructive career record with a second-round knockout victory against Ukrainian Oleksandr Teslenko.

Jared Anderson improved his image as America’s most intriguing heavyweight challenger by knocking out Oleksandr Teslenko with a dramatic one-punch knockout.

The unbeaten 22-year-old landed a powerful right hand that sent Teslenko sprawling to the canvas, extending Anderson’s undefeated record to 11 wins by stoppage.

Tyson Fury, who sparred with Anderson before his recent win over Deontay Wilder, has already lauded him as a potential world champion.

Anderson, fighting from a southpaw stance, threw strong jabs and struck Teslenko with a quick right hook in the first round.

In the second round, Anderson switched to orthodox and swiftly re-adjusted his aim, hitting a powerful straight right that ripped through Teslenko’s defences to put the battle to a spectacular finale.

Bob Arum, Anderson’s promoter, has stated that he hopes to hasten Anderson’s advancement toward a title match.

“Jared will face big names next year,” Arum told Sky Sports.

“He is a young man, only 22, and I believe he is the heavyweight division’s future.

“Jared has a lot of talent, but he also has a lot of bad habits. In the best meaning of the word, he is an athlete.”
