Boxing News: According to Top Rank CEO Todd DuBoef, Artur Beterbiev is a “force of nature” who is looking for a massive fight against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, undefeated Beterbiev will defend his IBF and WBC light-heavyweight titles against Marcus Browne.

The hard-hitting Russian is the only world champion in the sport’s history to have won all of his fights by knockout.

“From a stylistic standpoint, Beterbiev is the polar opposite of Vasiliy Lomachenko,” said Top Rank’s DuBoef, who promotes both guys.

“He is a natural power.”

“His grit and stoic demeanour are obvious.

“He performs excellent strength training.

“Beterbiev is a colossal monster. He’ll track you down, grab what you have, and lop off your head!

“He’s as enthralling as anyone.” Everyone is eager to see him in the ring.

“For him, the most important question is, ‘What’s next?'” Is he going to get a shot at Canelo? What are his prospects?”

Canelo Alvarez is the undisputed super-middleweight champion and a four-division titleholder, and his bold pursuit of greater and tougher challenges has earned him permission to confront WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu.

Canelo has already fought at light-heavyweight and knocked out Sergey Kovalev, but Beterbiev would be the most difficult test of his brilliance to date.

Canelo has previously indicated an interest in fighting Beterbiev or Joe Smith Jr., according to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.

“I’d expect Canelo to fight one of those light-heavyweights in May or September, the two dates on which he prefers to fight.”

“Some will argue that Beterbiev is excessively large and powerful. Others will argue that Canelo is unique and capable of handling any situation.

“It’s one of boxing’s biggest fights.”

Beterbiev’s formidable reputation was solidified when he floored and stopped Oleksandr Gvozdyk, a fellow undefeated world champion, in a gruelling bout that had been seen as a 50-50 fight before the fight.
