Boxing News: “I intend to defeat him. I’d like to put out a fire with fire. “The fans are aware of this,” Chris Eubank Jr said, adding that he will be “pushing hard.” “Next year, he plans to fight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and believes the fight will take place.

Chris Eubank Jr claims that a fight with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez could fill the “largest stadium” in the United Kingdom and that he will “push hard” to confront the Mexican superstar.

If Eubank Jr defeats Sven Elbir at The SSE Arena, Wembley on Saturday, October 2, he will remain on track for a world title shot.

Before the end of the year, the 31-year-old will be given a mandatory opportunity at a WBA middleweight title, but Eubank Jr could shift his career path to fight Canelo.

Eubank Jr told Sky Sports, “He’s the only one I’d go up a weight class to fight again, and yeah, he’s running out of fighters to fight.”

“No one wants to fight him, and the people who do want to fight him aren’t really interested in fighting him.”

“They just want to get in the ring, survive, and not get knocked out so they can get paid.”

“I’m not interested in any of that.” I intend to defeat him. I’d like to put out a fire with fire. The fans are well aware of this.

“That fight is obviously a fight that can happen, and I think we’ll be putting a lot of effort into it next year.”

Despite defeating a slew of British opponents, including Amir Khan, Callum Smith, and Billy Joe Saunders, Canelo has yet to fight in the United Kingdom.

However, Eubank Jr believes that a bout with the four-weight champion would draw a large crowd in the United Kingdom.

“Who else is there, really? Nobody beats Saunders, Callum Smith, or anyone else.

“It would be enough to fill the largest stadium.”

Canelo has finally accepted to fight Caleb Plant for the undisputed world super-middleweight belt on November 6 in Las Vegas.

However, Eubank Jr has questioned whether any opponents, other than himself, are capable of providing the pound-for-pound star with a meaningful challenge.

“It’s not simply a UK issue; it’s a global one,” Eubank Jr. added. “Everyone wants to see who else in the world fight Canelo. Caleb Plant is there, but there’s also the politics.

“Nobody at middleweight wants to fight him, and Golovkin has already fought him twice.”

“People want some new, fresh blood to come in and test him, and that’s who they’re looking for.”
