Boxing News: As they get closer to sharing the ring, Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields get into a Twitter feud

Boxing News: Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields have been squabbling on Twitter, and their dream bout could be a week away next Tuesday.

Shields will fight Ema Kozin on Saturday, February 5th, on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams.

A win would set up a rematch with Marshall for the undisputed middleweight title.

Marshall attacked Shields’ social media videos, saying: “I never consider Savannah Marshall; I only consider the best. Savannah Marshall isn’t my favourite.”

“You’re a bum, you just fight last-minute replacements,” Shields said, “and I can’t wait to whup her ass and smoke you next.”

Marshall responded, ” “Your next opponent has turned down three fights with me but accepted one with you. Why do you think that is? Fists made out of pillows.”

Protective shields: “It doesn’t matter to me if I’m polite or not! Especially when a girl believes she’s going to come after me again.

“So if you don’t respect me, don’t expect me to respect you. This is true for everyone.

“A lot of people need to apologise after I put on a show and demonstrate my fantastic skills on February 5.”

This rivalry began in 2012 when Marshall won an amateur battle against Shields, which is the only occasion Shields has ever lost in a boxing ring.

In addition to gold medals at consecutive Olympics, the American has won world titles in three divisions and undisputed crowns in two others.

Marshall is the World Boxing Organization’s middleweight champion.

The match that has been dubbed “the best in women’s boxing history” will be closer if Shields retains her IBF, WBA, and WBC titles next weekend.
