Boxing News: Caroline Dubois is motivated by Katie Taylor’s historic victory against Amanda Serrano and wants to take women’s boxing “much further,” according to promoter Ben Shalom.

Taylor regained her title as undisputed lightweight world champion with an exciting split decision victory over Serrano on April 30 at Madison Square Garden, the first women’s fight to be held there.

Dubois, who won her second professional fight by a spectacular knockout against Martina Horgasz in March, admitted that witnessing Taylor-Serrano has only fueled her goals.

“I spoke to her after watching Taylor-Serrano,” Shalom told Sky Sports News. “And she has ambitions to take the sport even further,”

Dubois is part of a BOXXER team filled with female talent, with world champion Savannah Marshall and Natasha Jonas recently joined by Lauren Price and Karriss Artingstall, both Tokyo Olympians.

Shalom added: “Caroline is 21 years old and seeing things like that is amazing for her, amazing for Lauren Price and Karriss Artingstall – all Olympians, all women with huge futures.

“To see the sport in such a big place, they hope that they’re the ones that make it even bigger. We believe they’ll all be world champions very soon. It’s a great time for women’s boxing and we believe we’ve got the best women’s stable, possibly in the world.”

Dubois has been back in training since her March outing, but her comeback to the ring has been delayed to allow her to fly to America to witness her brother Daniel Dubois, who is trained by Shane McGuigan like her, compete.

On June 11 in Miami, the British heavyweight will face American Trevor Bryan for the WBA’regular heavyweight title.

Caroline will be released at the end of June, according to Shalom.

“She’s going to watch her brother against Bryan and then she’ll be back out.”
