Boxing Match: The experts weigh in on Anthony Joshua’s points loss to Oleksandr Usyk; Chris Eubank Jr returns next Saturday night against Sven Elbir.

Joshua has previously shocked us. When he was defeated by Ruiz Jr, everyone said, ‘That’s it, he’s done, he’s completely exposed.’

He does, however, have the mental capacity to design a game plan.

Here, he must design a whole different game strategy. He attempted to outbox a skilled boxer.

He must now out-bash a very good boxer.

I’m attempting to figure out what other options he has.

He must begin to let go of his right hand. Let it fly like a jab. He must be able to work with both hands fluidly.

He will reflect on his accomplishments as well as what he failed to do. He must be astute. Because he gave this guy way too much room.

Spencer Oliver

He made a tactical error in the fight. He attempted to outbox the boxer.

He needed to be confident from the start. Stamp his authority, employ his stature, power, and explosiveness that has earned him the title of Anthony Joshua.

But we didn’t notice it.

‘Don’t allow Usyk to get into a rhythm,’ we advised, but that’s exactly what we observed.

What has he learned as a result of this? He can’t out-box Usyk, who is the best at it. His boxing prowess is unrivalled.

Joshua must revert to the old Anthony Joshua, who defeated Charles Martin and Dillian Whyte by rolling the dice.

Chris Eubank Jr.

No. He is a professional in his field. He’s been in the game long enough to know what to do, trainer or no trainer.

He’s not going to use that as an excuse.

It was just not his night. You can’t have it all.

Floyd Mayweather is the only fighter I can think of that has won all of them!

You learn from your mistakes and get stronger as a result. That is exactly what he intends to do.

Josh Taylor

It was an absolutely fantastic performance. Usyk overwhelmed Joshua, outmanoeuvred him, outboxed him, and even outfought him at times.

He was on the verge of being stopped in the 12th round.

It was a huge statement. He is a fantastic fighter.

I mentioned before the battle that I wouldn’t be surprised if Usyk won and stopped the fight, and he almost did because he has the talent and technique.

He’s proven that he’s on par with the greatest of them.
