Boxing fight: At the age of 40, David Haye returned to the ring after a three-year hiatus and defeated Joe Fournier in an eight-round heavyweight contest on Saturday night.

On his comeback to the ring on Saturday night in Florida, David Haye easily out-boxed and knocked out Joe Fournier to win a unanimous decision.

The former cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion had returned to the ring at the age of 40, after a three-year hiatus, to fight a former acquaintance in a bout agreed upon while on vacation in Mykonos.

Haye was able to keep Fournier at bay for the whole eight-round fight and even sent him to the ground once.

His two prior fights, in 2017 and 2018, both ended in stoppage defeats to Tony Bellew, with injuries playing a key factor in his demise.

But Haye was able to go even further back in time to imitate his prime, donning his distinctive Union Jack shorts and ring-walking to ‘Ain’t No Stopping Us Now’ before delivering a faultless performance.

Haye was never concerned by Fournier’s erratic and imprecise shots, despite not letting go of any significant power shots.

Haye’s jab at the conclusion of the first round threw Fournier off balance and knocked him out.

Haye was able to fend off all of Fournier’s strikes thanks to his head movements and reflexes. He was mostly content to unleash a jab.

Fournier was an undefeated light-heavyweight who had previously defeated a musician making their boxing debut, and the contrast between him and Haye in the ring was striking.

Haye won the bout by a large margin, according to the judges (79-72, 79-72, 80-71).

“Right now, the audience likes politics better,” observed Donald Trump, a former US president who was delivering guest commentary.
