Boxing fight: Tyson Fury discusses Anthony Joshua with Gary Neville on The Overlap: “He wouldn’t go any farther than six rounds. It would be over in a flash. He is well aware of this, as is his entire crew.”
Tyson Fury has stated that he will defeat Anthony Joshua in the mega-fight that “must to happen” within six rounds.
On September 25, Joshua will defend his IBF, WBA, and WBO titles against Oleksandr Usyk, before Fury defends his WBC title against Deontay Wilder on October 9.
After plans to stage the bout this summer fell through, the ideal undisputed heavyweight championship match might be rescheduled if they both come out unscathed.
The Overlap’s Gary Neville interviewed Joshua. “I’ll smoke that guy,” Fury said at the time, but now he’s informed Neville, “AJ couldn’t even light a cigarette, let alone the ‘Gypsy King.'”
“What makes me different from him?” I’m a Spartan, and he’s a businessman. When I go in the ring, I’ll show him.
“I’m going to crush that bodybuilder.”
“He wouldn’t go any further than six rounds.” It would be over in a flash. He is well aware of this, as is his entire crew.”
“I just know from my end, and my management team and my promoter – we’ve done everything we can to make this happen, and as long as I’m champion, I’ll compete with anyone,” Joshua previously said of the breakdown in negotiations to face Fury.
“I’ve never been optimistic about this fight occurring,” Fury said.
“I was never optimistic, even after the agreement was done.” What’s more, guess what? It never took place.
“I believe it will happen sooner or later.”
“Will we fight each other even if we go AWOL and toss all the belts in the bin?” That is something I would do. But I’m not sure he’d be willing to go through with it.”
