Boxing Fight: Katie Taylor kept her undisputed lightweight titles with a unanimous decision win against Firuza Sharipova in Liverpool, while Conor Benn knocked out Chris Algieri in the fourth round.

Conor Benn knocked out Chris Algieri in the fourth round, advancing the British welterweight contender one step closer to a world title battle.

The unbeaten 25-year-old showed off his punching power against Algieri, who was downed in the second round by a left hook before Benn ended the fight with a right hand two rounds later at the M&S Bank Arena.

Benn landed a strong jab as Algieri backed up to the ropes, then followed up with a straight right that left the New Yorker tumbling face forward onto the ground, where he was ruled out.

Katie Taylor won a majority decision against Firuza Sharipova on the Benn versus Algieri show, defending her uncontested world lightweight belts.

Taylor won with scores of 98-92, 97-92, 96-93, despite having to fight hard against the Kazakh challenger, who has docked a point for hitting on the break.

Robbie Davies Jr of Liverpool also won the WBA Continental super-lightweight title after knocking out Henry Lundy in the second round.

Joe Cordina had won a unanimous decision over Miko Khatchatryan earlier in the evening, extending his unbeaten record to 14 wins.
