Boxing Court: On Sunday night in Los Angeles, Gervonta Davis defeated Isaac Cruz to retain his WBA lightweight title in a booming lightweight division.

As the division heats up, ‘Tank’ earned a unanimous decision to retain his three-weight world title.

Vasiliy Lomachenko fights Richard Commey, while Devin Haney retained his WBC title on Saturday, a week after George Kambosos Jr defeated Teofimo Lopez to become the No. 1 contender.

Another unbeaten American prodigy, Ryan Garcia, reacted to Davis’ latest victory: “Gervonta gets away with beating C-level fighters, despite the fact that he is the weakest of all the lightweights! His toughest opponent was Leo Santa Cruz, whom he nearly defeated tonight. Bring it on, I’ve been yelling at you for quite some time.”

Following his victory, Davis stated: “All of those men are simple to deal with. I’m the king of the pack.”

Cruz, his game opponent, pushed him to work harder than he expected to be undefeated.

Davis was unable to take a breath for the whole of the bout due to an assault of pressure.

Davis was eventually able to time his signature power blows, but an injured hand prevented him from halting Cruz within striking distance.

The judges gave the following scores: 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113.

Davis is now undefeated in 26 fights, with 24 knockouts, having previously stopped 16 opponents.

He now holds the WBA’regular’ belt, although Devin Haney held a version of the WBC title just 24 hours before.

George Kambosos Jr is the division’s undisputed No. 1 after defeating Teofimo Lopez a week ago to win gold from all three governing bodies.

Last year, Lopez defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko, who has now responded with a vengeful stoppage victory.
